EBSCO is testing a new AI Insights feature to improve library research.

This generative AI tool highlights 3-5 key points from an article to help users quickly assess its relevance, complementing annotations and keywords. AI Insights improves research efficiency, saves time, and helps find relevant information, which is especially useful for students and researchers.

Beta testing conducted in April-May 2024 among 50 libraries showed a positive impact: 61% of users rated the tool positively. At the same time, the risks associated with AI inaccuracies and the need for AI literacy training were noted.

EBSCO plans to take into account the feedback and launch AI Insights in late 2024.
