Clarivate launches Web of Science Research Assistant, an artificial intelligence-based generative tool

Clarivate launched Web of Science™ Research Assistant on September 4, 2024. The new artificial intelligence-based generative tool will help researchers find key articles faster, complete complex research tasks, and visualize connections. The chat interface, combined with the Web of Science Knowledge Graph, allows researchers to get more out of their interactions with the 120 years of reliable publication and citation data in the Web of Science Core Collection™.
Web of Science Research Assistant features include:
- Flexible document search - users can perform natural language searches in multiple languages. The tool provides overviews that look at more than 120 years of research and identify connections between concepts and documents in the field of study.
- Guided prompts and tasks - the tool offers ways that users can enhance their research tasks by following contextual prompts to expand or refine the scope of their search. Guided tasks, such as Understand a topic, Literature review, or Find a journal, help researchers focus on exactly what they need.
- Unique data visualization - users can explore trend graphs, topic maps, and collaborative citation networks that show different angles of a topic and guide them deeper into the research.
The tool was developed in collaboration with librarians and researchers from around the world and began beta testing in December 2023. The development partners are helping to ensure that the AI-powered generative assistant meets strict standards of quality, accuracy, and privacy. The Web of Science research team will continue to work with the scientific community to gather feedback and advice for future improvements.
