On September 4, 2024, Clarivate Plc, the world's leading provider of transformative analytics, introduced the new Web of Science™ Research Assistant. Powered by generative artificial intelligence, this assistant helps researchers find key articles faster, perform complex research tasks, and visualize connections. The chat interface, together with the Web of Science Knowledge Graph, allows researchers to get more out of interacting with 120 years of verified publication and citation data in the Web of Science Core Collection™.

New features of the Web of Science Research Assistant tool include:

• Flexible document search - users can conduct natural language searches in multiple languages. The tool provides overviews that take into account more than 120 years of research and identify connections between concepts and articles in a particular field.
• Hints and tasks - the tool offers users ways to improve their research tasks by providing context-specific hints to expand or refine their search.
• Unique data visualizations - users can explore trend graphs, topic maps, and co-authorship networks that show different aspects of a topic and guide them deeper into the research.

The tool was developed in collaboration with librarians and researchers from around the world and has been in beta testing since December 2023. The Web of Science Research Assistant team will continue to work with the community to gather feedback and improve the tool in the future.
